Book Marketing, Promotion & Publicity, and Marketing, Promotion and PR: Getting the Word Out, and Building A Personalized Marketing Plan Description These three sessions are somewhat similar but are tailored to the time and number of sessions the conference allows. Marketing, promotion and publicity is 90% of what makes your book successful. Learn how to make your query letter and book proposal irresistible. Discover how to get endorsements and blurbs, reviews, create buzz, set up book tours and signings, do radio and TV interviews, create spin-offs, start a newsletter or e-zine, write articles with bylines, the benefits of a personal web site, pre-release publicity, media releases, and media kits. Session Outline Session 1 Session overview, market overview, marketing and promotion overview, a marketing plan, creating buzz, developing titles, query letters and book proposals, working with your publisher, and pre-release publicity Session 2 Endorsements and blurbs, magazine and Internet articles with bylines, getting reviews, and contests and letters to the editor as promotional tools Session 3 Book tours and signings, postcards, sell sheets, media releases, media kits, and speaking Session 4 Becoming an expert, getting on radio and TV, and media training Session 5 Starting a newsletter or e-zine, writing a column, and building a personal web site Session 6 Selling beyond the bookstore, creating spin-offs, special market sales, working with publicists, agents, and what to do when your book goes out of print Session Format Sessions will utilize PowerPoint presentations with screen captures of book covers, media releases, publicity kits, web sites, e-zines and newsletters, and other resources. Participants will receive samples of a marketing plan, media release and publicity kits, publicists resources, media training tips, and much more. This workshop is designed as a major track with up to eight hours of material. It can be shortened to fit into the time constraints of different conference lengths, preferably to not less than three sessions.
